Mindfulness & Meditation: Coping with Anger, Stress and Anxiety
Mindful Relaxation: Free Audio Download
I invite you to listen to this recording of me guiding you through a mindfulness relaxation exercise. In preparation, find a place where you can be undisturbed for ten minutes and give yourself the gift of calmness and relaxation.
You might also visit my Soothing Sounds section of my blog for more recordings to deepen your mindfulness practice and calm your mind, body and spirit.
Struggling with chronic unpleasant emotions, such as anger and anxiety, can be not only be detrimental your relationships but also to your health. Such stressful emotions are taxing on your body, and especially your nervous system. Learning how to get a handle on such emotions can be one of the best things you could do for yourself.
Mindfulness and meditation go hand in hand. Mindfulness is the practice of quieting the mind, focussing on the breath and relaxing the body. Then by turning your awareness inside to observe your thoughts and feelings you are able to identify triggers - you can choose to respond mindfully instead of reacting mindlessly. Over time, my clients have found that they can easily turn to mindfulness and meditation practices to sustain them between sessions and beyond the therapeutic relationship.
I teach and use various kinds of mindfulness practices and breathing exercises to my clients, depending on what would be most effective for them. Mindfulness is also a significant component to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Hakomi, and Hypnotherapy.
